What happens if we don't recycle plastic?

As a sustainable, and cruelty-free work bag and backpack company we pride ourselves of using recycled materials that have been developed from discarded plastic bottles. Our goal is to ensure that plastic doesn’t end up in our landfills and create havoc in our environment.

Now often people wonder what happens to plastic if we don’t recycle it.

Here’s what happens:

  •        A full landfill: Imagine billions of humans drinking water from single-use plastic bottles or consuming food from single-use plastic containers on a regular basis! If we don’t recycle plastic, our landfills will eventually become full or overloaded.
  •           Environment pollution and habitat destruction: Plastic can easily get integrated with our soil, water and, even air creating hazardous environment for humans, animals and micro-organisms and leading to destruction of our habitats in earth.

  •        Impacting our food chain: Plastic getting integrated with and polluting our environment – our soil, water, and air – means that our food chain will also be impacted. In fact, evidence of macro and nano-plastics have already been found in our fruits and vegetables. Scary!
  •           Health risk for humans: Plastic has been found in our blood chain, stomach and other organs. Plastic can be a leading cause of cancer, respiratory illnesses, and other diseases. Plastic is believed to be one of the causes of many new diseases that we are seeing now. Plastic can lead to the detriment of our physical and mental capabilities.
  •        Wildlife impacts: Animals and wild lives get trapped in plastic bags or consume plastic mistaking it for food leading it to their death or sickness.
  •           Climate change: Plastic, specifically incinerated, release greenhouse gases – which contributes to climate change.

So, that is why, it’s important that we stop using single-use plastic and recycle plastic as much as we can. For us, as a sustainable brand, it is our goal to use recycled materials in our work bags and backpacks. We are currently using recycled polyester in our bags. The quality difference between recycled polyester and regular polyester is minimal and both exhibit similar properties. So why not use recycled polyester? 😊
