How to take care of your laptop bag

  • Try to keep your bag in a clean environment

Have you stepped into a coffee shop, classroom, or public places and have seen bags, or backpacks lying around on the floor? Well, if you do so, in addition to germs and microbes, your bags will attract dirt and oil. Some consumers don’t care when their bags become dirty. However, many do and, in that case, they will tend to clean their bags in a way that ultimately damages the product. The section below -> here’s how not to clean your laptop bag tells you how you should not clean your bag

  • Try not to carry your bag or backpacks in extreme environments

Luna Bags and backpacks are meant for office and short-travel use. However, the ones that are meant for outdoor environment can also deteriorate if they are frequently exposed to environments that are high in heat, cold or humidity. A lot of these bags have PFA free durable water resistant (dwr) chemicals applied on them and these chemicals can easily wear off if the bags are frequently exposed to such environments.

What is Durable water resistant (DWR) chemical?

If it rains or water falls on your bag, the chemical allows water to form into beads and then water gently falls off from garment or bag. Thus, the dwr chemical helps to keep products dry.

What is PFA?

PFA is a fluorocarbon based chemical that has been proven to be harmful for our body and environment and, that is why, a lot of companies have stopped using it.

Frequent exposure to extreme environment can weaken these chemicals and that’s just the nature of such chemicals. Fluorocarbon based dwr chemical are much stronger in that case i.e. they can withhold harsh environments much better. However, that is also the reason, they sustain in our body and the environment and are, therefore, harmful for us.

Here’s how not to clean your laptop bag:

If you ever spill something on your laptop backpack and they become dirty,

-       Don’t brush the bag with toothbrush or any other hard brushes

-       Don’t clean your bags with soap

-       Don’t rub your bag forcefully with any abrasive material or fabric

When you brush or rub your bag with something abrasive, you not only impact the fabric but it also washes away the PFA free durable water resistant (dwr) chemical that many bags and outerwear use nowadays (including us). Similarly, if you use soap, it washes away the dwr chemical. Also, soap is hydrophilic i.e. it attracts water into the bag or garment.

Here’s how to clean your laptop bag:

Simply use water to wash off the surface of your bag. This probably sounds way too simple. However, simply running water on the bag and gently using your hand or soft clothes wash off the dirt many times and take care of the problem. The oil/grease or dirt comes off and the bag material and/or chemical (as an example, durable water resistant (dwr) chemical) do not impacted.
